🧾 Receipt Scanner: Expenses
Privacy first

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 10, 2026

Receipt Scanner: Expenses (the “App”) is built to be private by default. Your receipts and expense data are stored on your device. We do not run servers that collect your data, we do not use analytics or advertising SDKs, and we never sell your information.

The short version. Receipt images and the details extracted from them stay on your iPhone. Text recognition (OCR) happens on the device. The App only connects to the internet for a few specific, optional purposes described below — currency exchange rates, managing your subscription, and (if you turn it on) backing up to your own private iCloud. None of these send your receipt images or their contents to us.

1. Who we are

The App is provided by Artiom Gaureac (“we”, “us”). For any privacy question or request, contact gaureac@gmail.com.

2. Data stored on your device

When you use the App, the following is created and stored locally on your device (in the App’s private storage), not on our servers:

Because this data lives on your device, you control it. Deleting a receipt in the App, or deleting the App, removes the corresponding data from the device.

3. Text recognition happens on your device

The App reads receipts using Apple’s on-device Vision framework. Receipt images are processed locally to extract text and detect QR codes. Your receipt images and their contents are not uploaded to us or to any third-party OCR service in the current version of the App.

4. No tracking, no ads, no analytics SDK

The App contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party trackers. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. Nothing you scan, type or read in the App is measured or reported anywhere.

The one exception, stated plainly: our subscription provider shows us aggregate statistics about subscriptions themselves — how many are active, started or cancelled, and the anonymous identifier each purchase belongs to. That is what Apple’s privacy label calls “Analytics”, and we declare it there. It concerns purchases only, never your receipts or how you use the App.

5. When the App connects to the internet

The App is offline-first. It functions without a network connection. It reaches the internet only in these situations:

PurposeWhat is sentProvider
Currency exchange rates (to show totals in your base currency) Currency codes and dates only. No receipt data or personal data. Frankfurter (public European Central Bank rates)
Purchases & subscription management (validate, restore, unlock premium) Purchase/transaction information and an anonymous, randomly generated app-user identifier. No name or email. The provider shows us aggregate subscription statistics built from this, and nothing else. RevenueCat & Apple
Optional iCloud backup (off by default) A backup archive of your receipts, saved to your own private iCloud Drive container. We have no access to it. Apple iCloud
Opening an official e-receipt (only when you tap “Open e-receipt”) Your browser opens the tax authority’s receipt page encoded in the receipt’s QR code. The relevant tax authority website

6. Third-party services

We rely on a small number of service providers strictly to make the features above work. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies:

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing.

7. Device permissions

You can change these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app.

8. Payment information

All purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your card number or full payment details. Apple and RevenueCat process purchase records so that your subscription can be validated and restored across your devices.

9. Data retention and deletion

10. Children

The App is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because your receipt data is stored on your own device and we do not maintain accounts or a server-side profile of you, most of this data is already under your direct control. For the limited purchase-related data held by our providers, or for any question about this policy, contact us at gaureac@gmail.com and we will help.

12. International users

Where the limited processing described above occurs (for example, purchase validation), it may take place on servers operated by our providers in other countries. Those providers commit to appropriate safeguards under their own policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, through the App or App Store listing. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
